Last Day- Trip to the Fisher Village

This week has been a lot of fun. It is too bad we are leaving right when so many awesome people just arrived because they are such a fun group. Jim and I took them out to the old quarter on their first night and showed them around. And yesterday we went down the road to a bar that was filled with locals and they all invited us to karaoke which ended up being one of the craziest experiences hahah.

Today was our last day volunteering so our amazing mentor Linh wanted to take us to the Fisher Village finally since the weather was suppose to be nice. We went with two other IVHQ volunteers from Australia, Anilla and Jess, who are teaching at the Youth Centre for a couple weeks. It was extremely eye opening to see these families living conditions. Their homes were made out of old garbage and barely had clean/running water. Some of them had solar panels to get electricity, others had none at all. Most of the kids that we've met at the Youth Centre have grown up in this small village. When we got back from the long hot walk the kids and other local volunteers had made everyone lunch. So we enjoyed spring rolls, fried egg and soup for our last meal together.

Now we gotta do laundry, pack and say bye to the other volunteers because our bus to SAPA leaves at 7am tomorrow.
